Canet de Mar is located between the Mediterranean and the Montnegre-Corredor natural Park. The granite eroded soil forms soft hills and valleys. The highest point is Pedracastell, 300 m. from where the Montnegre, the Montseny and great part of the Maresme region and even Barcelona can be observed. Rain scarcity, except in autumn and winter, makes the area dry and humid to which vegetable and animal species had to adapt.

Des la creu es pot veure el MontnegreIn a more seaside space, birds like the blackheaded gull,  the yellow-legged gull, the house-martin. Into the forest, the old fields have disappeared to give place to Holm oak and Stone pine forests. Till mid 20th century, the valleys and surroundings of Canet were laboured by farmers. Over hundreds of years, grapes, carob trees, or fruit trees filled the village scenery. After that the produce of Canet has been the strawberry, still cultivated in the more sunny hillsides.

The valleys are the most biologically diversified habitats. There one can easily find canes, coojongs, chaste trees, rosemary or rakroses among many others. In higher locations other species have survived from long time ago and haven´t surrendered over to the holm oaks and pine trees. This is the case of the carob and cherry trees for instance.

The fauna of Canet is quite divers, especially to do with birds. With just a bit of effort one can see the short-toed treecreeper, the magpie, the jay, the red-legged partridge, the sardanian warbler and the common nightingale. The most common mammals are the squirrel, the wood mouse, the eurasian badger, the wild boar, the red fox and the small-spotted genet.
