Canet de Mar enjoys a coast 2,1km long which includes the beach of Canet (1500m) and the beach of Cavaió (600m). The coastline is made of a sand coming from the granite rocks which form the local floor bed. Both beaches are quite flat and are easily accessible on foot and by bicycle. The beaches are in a good preservation state and due to this; Canet has got this year the “Blue Flag” recognition from the European Union.
Another example from the quality of the beach is the designation of a preservation area along the east side of the promenade for the seaside flora. In this space one can find local plants from the Catalan seaside like the samphire, european searocket, yellow horned poppy, or the aloe vera.
